Thirty Melodic Lessons in Solfege
by Emile Jaques-Dalcroze

$20.00

The vocalises of "Thirty Melodic Lessons" (Trente Leçons Melodiques) are wonderful studies not only for singers, but also for students and musicians of all instruments. Suitable for singing with or without traditional solfege syllables, they provide new skills and insights into melodic intervals as well as phrasing, meter, and rhythm.

(Here Jaques-Dalcroze uses the word "lessons" in an old-fashioned sense, as in, "Go home and learn your lessons." These aren't "lessons" in the same sense the word is used in the "Six Lessons" series; rather, this is purely music.)

These inventive miniatures span a range of styles and characters, and include a variety of ideas including complex and changing meters, augmentation/diminution, triplets, and syncopation. The interplay between the vocal line and piano accompaniment facilitates choreographic analysis in the context of Dalcroze Eurhythmics, as well.

Originally published in Paris, 1936, this exclusive edition is authorized for the U.S. and Canada by Alphonse Leduc & Cie.
