Experience MusiKinesis®

Better Musicianship through Movement • Better Dance skills through Music

REGISTER NOW! Session 3 starts April 23

Whether you’re a music student, dancer or teacher, MusiKinesis® can take you further. Based on principles of music, modern dance and the Swiss Jaques-Dalcroze method, MusiKinesis classes develop skills and insights from the inside out, getting music into your bones!

Dalcroze Eurhythmics and Modern Dance grew together in the early 20th century. MusiKinesis® reunites them in experiences that enhance awareness of music at it exists in sound and in space. As a contemporary American approach, MusiKinesis® is flexible, applicable and directly focused on the nexus of dance and music.

For Musicians, exercises in movement instill a personal sense of music beyond abstract notation. As students refine their understanding of concepts in rhythm, phrasing and nuance, they also develop skills in aural perception, coordinatioDancerFeetn and creative improvisation. Music theory becomes ingrained experience, improving performance at any instrument.

For Dancers, the association of sound to movement brings clarity, expands range and opens the door to new creative possibilities in teaching, choreographing and performing. Standard dance vocabulary is related to time and energy in sound, and improvisatory work sparks further ideas and insights. Dancers will dance with more musicality, become acquainted with new music, and gain teaching skills and activities for use with their own students.
