Enjoy a new Zoom session on rhythm in movement! For dancers and musicians alike, we’ll make concepts of music physical and bring dance movements into greater musical clarify.

With continued study, dancers can learn skills in musicality for themselves and exercises for their students, while musicians will gain insights into the physicality of music along with fresh teaching techniques.

This session includes three breakout sessions for specific teaching applications. Choose the one that fits your needs when you register!

  1. Private music lessons: Katie Ostrosky will share techniques for applying MusiKinesis® in teaching piano students. The breakout session will focus particularly on private piano lessons, but teachers of voice and other instruments may find inspiration here, as well.
  2. Dance classes (ages 10 – teens): Alicia Nightengale will lead participants through a sequence of exercises for bringing rhythmics to dance students. This session will provide a step-by-step format dance teachers can implement in their own ways.
  3. Early Childhood (Pre-K to Grade 2): Monica Dale will outline the essential tenets of her work with young children and use a lesson as an example, while answering questions and sharing anecdotes. (At this age level, music and dance remain unseparated.)
